Shakedown mode for Garry Rogers Motorsport at Winton
After launching Ben Bargwanna’s Burson Auto Parts Peugeot 308 TCR at the team’s Dandenong workshop yesterday, Garry Rogers Motorsport and its four Supercheap Auto TCR Australia drivers headed to Winton to complete a shakedown ahead of the first round at AWC Race Tasmania.
Importantly it will be Kody Garland’s first drive of a Peugeot 308 TCR after making the switch from the squad’s Renault Megane RS TCRs in which he made his debut with last year.
Bargwanna will of course start a packed season of racing at Symmons Plains as he announced in addition to his Supercheap Auto TCR Australia commitments he will contest the opening two rounds of the TCR World Tour at Algarve in Portugal on April 28-30 and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium on May 26-28.
A returnee to the category is the human highlight reel Jordan Cox as he moves into the Schaeffler Australia Peugeot 308 TCR for 2023. A series runner up in 2021 and fourth last year in his first season with the French hot hatch, Cox goes into this season as one of the favourites in what is a formidable line-up at GRM.
Rounding out the GRM roster is Valvoline-backed Aaron Cameron, who comes off another impressive season and along with Bargwanna is the most experienced in the Peugeot 308 TCR and can count himself as a Supercheap Auto TCR Australia stalwart.
Although testing today at Winton, it is not on the new Kumho tyres as no running is permitted on these prior to a test at Symmons Plains prior to the opening round getting beginning providing the perfect opportunity for the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia teams and drivers to get acclimatised to the new package.
