Kody Garland out for remainder of AWC Race Tasmania

Garry Rogers Motorsport Team Valvoline driver Kody Garland has been ruled out for the remainder of AWC Race Tasmania after his incident during opening practice of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia at Symmons Plains.

In his maiden appearance in the class, Garland lost control on the back sweeper and hit the wall heavily, causing significant damage to his Team Valvoline Garry Rogers Motorsport Renault Megane R.S.

“We’ve all put so much effort into this over the last couple of weeks and for it to end this way is certainly not the way we wanted,” Garland summarised.

“With the pace I was showing yesterday, it was looking good so I’ve learnt that one the hard way.”

Garland further detailed the extent of the damage as he targets to come back strongly at Phillip Island.

“Obviously with the contact to the wall it looks like the strut tower is damaged, so it’s fairly structural,” he said. “Repairable, but not at the track for this weekend.

“I was just so keen to go out there today and it just breaks your heart that you can’t get out there.

“Anyway, I can’t wait for the next round, we’ll get it fixed and get back out there.”

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series drivers and teams now turn focus to tomorrow’s two-part qualifying at 2:25pm AEDT before the opening race at 4:25pm AEDT.
