Morris Vaults to Fastest Time Late in Practice 2
Nash Morris has vaulted his Supercheap Auto Racing Ford Mustang to the top with a late lap at Symmons Plains Raceway in Practice 2 for the Trico Trans Am Series.
Practice 2 pace-setter James Moffat led the way early for Garry Rogers Motorsport, ahead of his stablemate Tim Slade and Elliott Cleary. A flurry of times came in after half a dozen laps were completed, leaving Nathan Herne on top of the table while Slade was able to leapfrog Moffat.
James Golding had worked himself to fourth on the timesheets, while Morris was sitting in fifth. At this point, the top five were covered by 0.1992 seconds.
A red flag came out shortly after halfway for a grass fire between turns two and three, which left the field with enough time for one flying lap before the end of the session.
Morris took the opportunity with both hands, to pip Moffat by 0.0718 seconds late on. Herne in third was just 0.009s back, while Jordan Boys jumped to fourth with a near identical time to Herne’s.
Slade rounded out the top five, only one tenth off the top. Ben Grice, James Golding, Elliot Barbour, Elliott Cleary and Jackon Rice completed the top 10. Josh Webster was again fastest in Pro-Am, while Mark Bailey improved to be second in class on his debut.
Qualifying, which will be split into two groups of 10 (based on combined practice results) runs from 10:00am AEDT tomorrow morning.
